What is a blog?
A blog is a website or social media page which documents an individual’s specific interests in an informal way that can reach a wide demographic of viewers. Blogs can cover almost any topic, from lifestyle or food to new technological discoveries or video game reviews.
Blogs are a great way to convey information on a particular topic to a wide variety of people in a way that is understandable for both experts and non-experts.
In the humanities, blogs are a good way to learn about specific topics, with many blogs being a source of information that is created by someone passionate about their chosen subject.
Blogs can also be a good way to express your own interests and expertise in various subjects, or to connect with others socially. They can be a good source of self-promotion, as you can demonstrate your knowledge or abilities in a casual format that can also be accessed by potential employers.
At Macquarie University, many courses include assessment tasks in which you must create a blog. To learn more about how to create a blog in Adobe Portfolio, check out our tutorials on the subject here.
